Philippians 3:1

Do You Know How to Rejoice?

When the Apostle Paul directs the saint to rejoice in the Lord he is not being
original. The call for God’s people to rejoice reverberates throughout
Scripture. While the exhortation is penned by the likes of David and Isaiah
they were inspired by the Holy Spirit to do so. It is none other than the voice
of God calling us to rejoice in what He rejoices in. There are other things to
rejoice over but in our context we can focus on God’s glory and the
salvation He has bestowed on us. Take the time to contemplate the
goodness God has lavished on you in Christ and surely you will rejoice with
joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory (1 Peter 1:8b). You may rejoice
in many things but above all bask in the immeasurable grace He has shown
to you – and give Him the glory. Jesus puts it plainly to his enthusiastic
disciples upon their return from a short, “successful” ministry endeavor:
“Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but
rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luke 10:20
