Philippians 2:12-13

Your Life’s Work

God’s Pleasure
It was God’s pleasure to save people. Hard as it is to grasp, it
was His will to secure that salvation by sending His Son to die in
our place. It was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put
him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall
see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD
shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:10. But God’s pleasure in His
redeeming work does not end at salvation. God is working in us
what is pleasing to Him. According to our text, God, who is at
work in us wills and works in us what is His good pleasure. The
question is: how pleased are you to see that work prosper in
your life? Are you so thankful to Him for saving you that you find
pleasure in doing His will? Is your love for Him expressed in
obedience to His commands? Are you inspired enough by His
grace so much that you willingly pursue the good works that he
has prepared for you? Are you willing to say to the Lord “Your
will be done”? I you can sincerely answer these questions along
the lines of, “that is my desire and intention, so help me God”
you are, with the grace and help of God, striving to work out
your salvation. That is something pleasing in the sight of your
heavenly Father.
